That Old (Roman) Black Magic
The Roman world was one surrounded by a thin veil between the real and human realm and that of myths, monsters and magic. Sometimes, with a flash of lightning across the sky and birds dropping from the trees, that veil slipped, and they could see into the shadow world beyond. Men were employed to interpret these visions, and others even tried to dabble in the mysteries themselves. But were these attempts at understanding the world around them, or did they try to channel magic to their own needs? And if they did, did they ever try to use it for nefarious purposes?
