The A Short Break.
As some of you who have been here since the very beginning will be aware, every day for the past three years or so, I have risen at the crack of dawn, fresh as a lark, and descended into the Stygian gloom of the Roman History Mines, canary in hand, to bring you the finest, or at least the most gently amusing and potentially rather interesting articles on Roman history.
Come tempest (there was a tornado nearby once!), high water, low water and no water at all, I have written, researched and scoured feverishly to bring you three articles (and more) each week, and now, after over 1,000 days of constant writing, I have decided to take what I have been reliably informed is called “A Short Break”.
I am not entirely sure what happens during the A Short Break - I expect I shall stare out of the window, a little lost, or wander around the kitchen, mumbling. But, once the A Short Break has been completed, I shall return refreshed, canary in hand, ready to do battle at the coalface of interesting facts once more.
The A Short Break means that this week’s translation of the Historia Augusta will be carried over to next week, and normal historical rambling will be resumed next week as if nothing had ever happened.
If you wish to contribute a few pennies to the A Short Break Biscuit Fund (all biscuits are, of course, for the dogs), then please feel free to do so.
See you next week!
James.
